Nama fandom Shawn Dou / Dou Xiao adalah 豆粉 (dibaca: dòu fěn). Nama panggilan Dou Xiao adalah 豆豆 (dòu dòu, plesetan dari marganya), yang berarti kacang. Dou fen 豆粉 berarti penggemarnya, atau bubuk kacang.
Dou Xiao, yang juga dikenal sebagai Shawn Dou, adalah aktor Tiongkok. Lahir pada 15 Desember 1988 di Xi’an, ia berimigrasi ke Vancouver, Kanada, bersama keluarganya ketika ia berusia 10 tahun. Dou Xiao bersekolah di Sekolah Dasar David Lloyd George di Vancouver, BC, Kanada. Di sana, Dou Xiao belajar Karate dan memenangkan kejuaraan selama dua tahun berturut-turut. Setelah lulus dari DLG pada tahun 2001, ia bersekolah di Sekolah Menengah Sir Winston Churchill di Vancouver, BC, dan lulus dari sana pada tahun 2006.
Saat Dou Xiao tinggal di Kanada, dia ingin menjadi penata rambut, dengan tujuan akhir membuka tokonya sendiri di Kanada. Dia magang selama 3 tahun di salon rambut di Vancouver sebelum dia menjadi penata rambut.
Dia kembali ke Tiongkok dan diterima oleh Akademi Film Beijing pada tahun 2008. Sementara di tahun kedua studinya, dia mengikuti audisi untuk “The Love of the Hawthorn Tree” dan kemudian dipilih untuk bermain sebagai pemeran utama pria.
Dou Xiao kemudian membintangi film drama The Seal of Love (2011). Dou Xiao telah membintangi film dari berbagai genre, terutama Wolf Totem (2015) dan Youth Dinner (2017), yang membuatnya memenangkan penghargaan Aktor Terbaik di Festival Du Cinema Chinois De Paris ke-11.
Dou Xiao mendapatkan pengakuan arus utama untuk perannya sebagai pangeran antagonis dalam drama sejarah yang sangat populer Princess Agents (2017). Setelah itu, ia membintangi drama epik fantasi Tribes and Empires: Storm of Prophecy (2017).
Pada 2019, ia membintangi See You Again bersama Tiffany Tang serta dua drama lainnya, From Survivor to Healer dan Tears in Heaven. Pada tahun 2020, Dou Xiao bertemu kembali dengan Tiffany Tang dalam drama sejarah The Legend of Xiao Chuo sebagai Han Derang.
Pada 27 April 2019 Shawn Dou mengkonfirmasi rumor melalui media sosial bahwa dia berkencan dengan Laurinda Ho, putri pengusaha dan penjudi terkenal Stanley Ho.
